Automotive Design

From 1999 to 2002, I studied a degree in Transport Design at the University of Huddersfield.

This led to me spending a decade working in the automotive industry, first for Vintage Motor Company, then Clarks Vehicle Conversions and RS Motorhomes.

Building upon the CAD skills learnt on my degree course in Solidworks and Autocad, I subsequently became conversant in Rhino and SolidEdge. This led to my involvement in the design of bespoke Vintage style vans, funeral vehicles, commercial vehicle interior conversions, van-based motorhome interiors and the exterior styling of larger motorhomes.

In light of my CAD expertise, I was tasked with CNC programming, learning the Solidcam, Alphacam and Lantek Expert packages to program parts produced by in-house 3 and 5 axis CNC machines and laser cutters.

My responsibility also extended to component sourcing, leading to spearheading programmes of weight and cost saving.
