From 2011 to 2013, I was a member of the design team at RS Motorhomes.
With over five years' experience of van conversions from my time at Clarks, I was given the responsibility of creating interior layouts for the Mercedes-Benz sprinted based Equinox range.
Invariably these were bespoke to specific customer requirements; incorporating specific appliances, additional water capacity, storage for items like motorbikes and surfboards, or featuring luxuries generally only found in larger motorhomes such as underfloor heating.
Initial 2D overhead layouts were created in Adobe Photoshop, then developed into a 3D model using SolidEdge. From this model, furniture components were programmed onto the company's 3 and 5-axis CNC machines, which produced components in-house.
I was also responsible for the exterior styling work on the Iveco Daily based Endeavour model, which was awarded 2nd place in the Caravan and Motorhome Club's 2014 Design and Drive Awards.
This design was developed using the Rhino 3D CAD package, before bucks for GRP moulding were programmed and produced by the in-house 5-axis CNC machine.
The Endeavour had subsequently been featured in the Channel 5 programme: Million Pound Mega Motorhomes.
My skills in Graphic Design and Photoshop also led to the creation of a series of magazine adverts, vehicle layout illustrations and a overhaul of the company website.
